The Brookville-Seminary Valley neighborhood was developed in the post-war landscape of the 1950s and 1960s. The community features a rich variety of homes, including mid-century split-foyer, split-level, ranch, and Cape Cod floor plans on spacious lots.

As the area grew, residential options expanded, with the construction of Willow Run at Mark Center in 1962 — a 399-unit garden-style apartment community originally known as “The Hamlets” — followed by the KMS townhomes in 1968.

Initially drawing the families of the quickly expanding federal workforce, today Brookville-Seminary Valley boasts a friendly, diverse community of residents working across many sectors of the local economy.

Families in the neighborhood are served by two local schools: Patrick Henry School (Pre-K through 8) on Taney Avenue and James K. Polk Elementary School (Pre-K through 8) on Polk Avenue. High school students attend Alexandria City High School, home of the Titans. Additionally, the Patrick Henry Recreation Center offers fantastic after-school programs, recreation, and community activities right in our backyard.
